24 Form of Tai Chi Video

This is the 24 Movement Simplified Form of Tai Chi that was created by the Chinese government in 1956. The 24 Form of Tai Chi was based upon the Traditional Yang Style of Tai Chi Chuan, and is known as the Beijing 24 Form or often referred to as the Yang Short Form. Chu Guiting, Cai Longyun, Fu Zhongwen, and Zhang Yu were the four teachers of Tai Chi Chuan who collaborated together to develop a simplified set of Tai Chi movements that could easily be taught to the mass population of China.

The 24 movement form was promoted by the People’s Republic of China as good exercise for the general public, and it was also taught to internees in Communist “re-education” camps as well. The 24 Movement Simplified Tai Chi Form was easily standardized, and it became a main Tai Chi form that was used in many competitions.
