Fu Zhongwen Practices Push Hands

Fu Zhongwen (1903-1994) is seen in this Tai Chi video practicing Push Hands exercises, from the traditional Yang family style of Tai Chi Chuan, with his son Fu Shengyuan and later with one of his students. Filmed in 1987 when Fu Zhongwen was 85 years old, you can still see how adept he was at Tai Chi Chuan when he was older.

Fu Zhongwen was one of the main disciples of Yang Cheng fu, who was the 3rd generation master of the Yang Family. Fu started his training with Yang Cheng Fu at the young age of 9 years old.

When Fu Zhongwen was older, he began to assist Yang Cheng Fu with teaching and accompanied Yang on his travels to other parts of China. Other martial artists often wanted to see if the Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan was effective and Fu would accept the challenges for his teacher.

Fu Zhongwen worked unselfishly to promote the Yang family style of Tai Chi Chuan. He founded the Yongnian Tai Chi Association and traveled abroad to other countries teaching countless numbers of dedicated practitioners the art of Yang Tai Chi Chuan.
