Wang Yen-nien Performs Yang Michuan Tai Chi Chuan

Wang Yen-nien (1914-2008) is seen performing Tai Chi Chuan. He was a student of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan disciple Zhang Qinlin.

When Wang Yen-nien was younger, he began his training in martial arts learning Xingyi amd Chang Chuan. Starting in 1932 he began studying the Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan in Shanxi Province with Wang Xingwu, who was a student of Yang Banhou. In 1945, Wang Yen-nien began apprenticing with Zhang Qinlin to further his studies in the Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan. Zhang Qinlin was a student of both Yang Jianhou and Yang’s son, Yang Chengfu.

In 1949 because of the civil war between the Nationalist government and the Communist Party of China, Wang Yen-nien moved to Taiwan. He became a very well known and respected teacher of Tai Chi Chuan in Taiwan, and taught many local and foreign enthusiasts of Tai Chi Chuan the methods of the Yang family which he learned, and is known as the Yang Michuan Tai Chi Chuan, or Yang Family Secret Tai Chi Chuan.
