Yang Zhenji – Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan

Yang Zhenji (1921-2007) is seen in this video performing the Long Form of the traditional Tai Chi Chuan of the Yang Family. Yang Zhenji was a 4th generation master of Tai Chi Chuan of the Yang Family. He is the 2nd son of the famous Yang Cheng Fu. Yang Zhenji began his training in Tai Chi early at the age of 6 years old from his father, as well as his older brother Yang Sauchung.

Yang Zhenji had worked hard to learn his family’s Tai Chi Chuan, and after many years fully grasped the essence of the Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan. Yang Zhenji started to teach Tai Chi on his own in the 1940’s, and traveled parts of China to teach his family’s art. There are now many students of Tai Chi Chuan around the world who can trace their lineage through Yang Zhenji.

Below is an excellent book for the practitioner of the Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan. This must have book was written by Yang Zhengji’s father, Yang Cheng Fu. This Tai Chi manual of the Yang Family is translated by Louis Swaim, who performed a valuable service in making it accessible to western practitioners of this amazing art!
