In this video, Master Tung Kai Ying performs the traditional Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan Long Form. His journey in Tai Chi began at just six years old, when an uncle introduced him to the art in his family’s village in China. At fourteen, he relocated to Hong Kong to study under his grandfather, Tung Ying Chieh—one of Yang Cheng Fu’s most renowned disciples. Under his grandfather’s guidance, Tung Kai Ying received the core of his formal Tai Chi training.
As his skills developed, Tung Kai Ying assisted in teaching his grandfather’s classes, and after Tung Ying Chieh’s passing, he continued instructing alongside his father, Tung Hu Ling. He later represented the family tradition abroad, teaching for his father in Singapore and Malaysia. In 1971, he settled in Los Angeles, where he introduced Yang-style Tai Chi to a new generation of practitioners. Over the decades, his dedication has resulted in thousands of students worldwide, many of whom have established schools of their own, carrying the Tung family legacy across the globe.
Featured below is an essential book for any student of Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan. Authored by Yang Cheng Fu—the teacher of Tung Ying Chieh and the great-grandteacher of Master Tung Kai Ying—this text remains one of the foundational references for serious practitioners
