Chen Liqing Performs Chen Family Tai Chi Chuan
Chen Liqing (1919-2008) performs a Xiaojia routine from the Chen family style of Tai Chi Chuan. This demonstration was was held in Japan during 1985.
She began training in her family’s art of Tai Chi Chuan at the young age of 7 years old. She learned from her father, Chen Honglie. She also studied the Chen style with her grandfather, Chen Chunyuan, and several of his friends. In 1994 Chen Liqing was the first female recognized as a master within the Chen Family Tai Chi Chuan lineage. Her niece is the only other female to hold the title as a Chen lineage master.
Chen Liqing passed away at eight o’clock in the morning on November 7th, 2008 at the age of 90 years old. Chen Liqing had many students and disciples from Japan, the United States, Southeast Asia, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Her influence and teachings will be carried on and spread by practitioners of Tai Chi Chuan for generations to come.
